If you ve had your door for a while or are in and out of it a lot it can easily end up out of alignment.
One side of garage door higher than other.
There are several things that can cause this.
When this happens you need to shift it back into position.
If it was opening too quickly move it to the next lower hole.
In the next series of steps you will move your ladder to the other side and climb up to the left cable drum.
If the door was closing too quickly move the spring to the next higher hole on the bracket.
The most simple and common is door shift.
The door runs are housed in a garage door track one on each side of the garage door.
Adjusting the other track.
Some times you need to adjust the garage door.
Vise grip the shaft.
This can happen when the door has shifted to one side causing it to appear uneven.
Using a marker or file mark the shaft and the drum.
Because garage doors are usually sized to snugly fit the dimensions of the garage itself making the door larger usually means making the garage larger.
The mark on the shaft should be about 1 4 above the mark on the drum as shown.
To adjust the other track simply repeat the processes in steps 2 and 3.
When the door is placed directly on the floor and it s not level it causes one side of the door hinge or latch side to be higher than one another.
One way to do it would be to get wall extensions for the entire the garage and then cut the roof of the garage off lifting it up to the height you want it.
If the gap under the door is less than one inch make the marks 1 8 apart.
Retest the door balance as you did in step 1.
The easiest way to solve this problem is when installing the door space the jambs off the floor when possible.
Adjust the springs on both sides of the door the same way.
